About Us

LOMOD, Corp. is a local, grass-roots non-profit organization founded by Thomas and Linda Huger in the city of Daytona Beach, FL.  This agency plans to offer multiple programs designed to meet the specific needs of individuals and families in the community by providing services and activities that will help residents break the cycle of poverty, hopelessness, blight, and crime.  LOMOD, Corp. is unique and innovative in scope and nature, blending traditional interventions with new concepts and 21st century technologies.   Daytona Beach is a family oriented community located in the northeast area of Volusia County Florida which is comprised of mostly small, rural communities that lack community resources which many residents of larger cities enjoy.   The targeted population for services are  primarily lower-moderate income residents who are in need of social assistance, lack educational opportunities and do not have the skills and abilities necessary to increase their standard of living in order to relish all that life has to offer.  These individuals often experience generational cycles of poverty and social injustices that restrict growth and renewal which often leads to discouragement and low self-esteem.

Lack of adequate employment, family unity and support drains the social and justice systems causing systemic intervals of poverty and crime within already distressed communities.  While the crime rate for violent crimes has declined slightly over the past decade, property crimes and crimes related to substance abuse has increased dramatically as possible reflections of the economic devastation that poor communities have suffered over many years.  This agency seeks to restore civility as well as upward mobility for residents.  LOMOD provides services primarily to low-moderate income residents and their families seeking to break the cycle of poverty and restore self sufficiency as well as upward mobility for these individuals.  Services will also be geared towards children of offenders who are negatively affected by having one or both parents incarcerated, and studies show they themselves are 4 times more likely to experience incarceration as juvenile or adult offenders.  Furthermore, there are many studies to explore the reality of the Pipeline to Prison that shows that Special Education too often leads to jail for thousands of American children. Offenders released from prison have extreme difficulty securing gainful employment, adequate housing and supportive services and often commit new law violations or violate the terms and conditions of their Supervision less than 1 year after their release.

Thomas and Linda Huger seek to combat these issues by providing services that will implement unique supportive services for all families in need of services.  They are both long time residents who have made great contributions to uplifting the social and economic status of the community.  Thomas Huger is a long time businessman who assisted in developing both commercial and residential construction projects and is well known for providing excellent services.  Linda Huger is a retired educator who served more than 30 years in the Volusia County schools.  As retirees, they are now dedicating their time, talents and efforts to providing services that will support local initiatives in this distressed community.

It is important to note, they have always been advocates for those in need as they both grew up in the Daytona Beach area and witnessed first-hand the struggles of poor families residing in poor communities. The Hugers are an integral part of the community and they still reside in the heart of the area they will serve which is their daily motivation to keep striving for excellence while helping others to improve their standard of living.  They have raised four beautiful children and now enjoy the company of their grandchildren.  Furthermore, they continue to serve diligently in various organizations  holding many titles and maintaining high levels of responsibilities.  They enjoy shopping, going to the movies and traveling together.

LOMOD aims to empower others to seek the tools necessary for complete restoration in order to move forward in their lives utilizing a multidisciplinary approach in providing services.  LOMOD will bring agencies throughout the community together to streamline service delivery in order to avoid duplication of services and ensuring families receive the best services and activities available.  LOMOD will be able to readily identify gaps in service and critical needs and will be proactive in addressing those needs through various means including notifying governmental entities, faith-based organizations and other community-based programs.
